Irish Outflank Scots

In the women’s match earlier, Scotland again went down by the only goal of the game, scored against the run of play in the 58th minute by Jenny McDonough.

The Scots were pretty unlucky, though, as the tenacious Vikki Bunce impressed as playmaker in midfield. Emma Rochlin in particular had several shots saved by the busy Irish keeper, while Ailsa Robertson, Clare Scott and Aimee Clark also had opportunities to score.

Coach Keith Joss dispensed with a goalkeeper for the final three minutes in a desperate attempt to get the draw his side deserved, but all in vain.
