| COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey and the National Sports Center today announced that NSCwebcast will provide live internet broadcasts of two upcoming games of the 2008-09 U.S. Women’s Select Team, which is based this season in Blaine, Minn., at the NSC. Team USA's games against The Ohio State University on Sunday, Dec. 14 (10 a.m. CST), and the Minnesota Whitecaps on Friday, Dec. 19 (7 p.m. CST), both set to take place at the NSC's Schwan Super Rink, will be available on NSCwebcast.tv. The U.S. Women’s Select Team has been training at the NSC since the beginning of September as part of a residency program set up by USA Hockey. The team utilizes the eight-sheet Schwan Super Rink and the strength and conditioning facilities of the Herb Brooks Training Center. USA Hockey's women's residency program was created to prepare post-collegiate members of the U.S. Women's National Program for international competition leading up to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. NOTES: There is a $6.95 charge for each of the two games ... Jeff Huffman and Joe Moore will share the play-by-play duties, while Craig Roberts will provide color commentary for both games ... The residency program features the 16 players that make up the 2008-09 U.S. Women's Select Team. The squad faces off against NCAA Division I opponents and the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Western Women's Hockey League, as well as a local men's league and high school boys' teams. | Last Training Camp Prior to Japan Challenge Runs Through This Weekend | |
| COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 2008-09 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team is currently in the middle of its last training camp of 2008, and also the final tune-up for the team prior to the Japan Challenge in early January. The camp, which began yesterday at the ESL Sports Centre in Rochester, N.Y., runs through Sunday (Dec. 7). The Japan Challenge will take place in Nagano from Jan. 13-17, 2009. It will be the second of four international events for the U.S. squad during the season. From Feb. 24-March 1, Team USA will participate in the VANOC Series in Vancouver, which will be the last tournament prior to the 2009 International Paralympic Committee Ice Sledge Hockey World Championship in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, from May 5-16. | Brooke Ammerman Added to Women's Holiday Camp Roster | |
| COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Brooke Ammerman (River Vale, N.J.) has been added to the roster for the 2008 USA Hockey Women's Holiday Camp, set to take place in Blaine, Minn., from Dec. 26-31. She joins 58 other athletes previously named to the camp roster. Brooke Ammerman, a freshman at the University of Wisconsin, was an assistant captain for the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team for the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women's U18 Championship, where Team USA captured the gold medal. She currently leads NCAA Division I rookies with 25 points (17-8) in 25 games. NOTES: Ammerman's younger sister, Brittany, is also attending the camp as a member of the 2009 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team ... | COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Members of the 2008-09 U.S. Women's Select Team will hold a skills clinic for girls ages 8-12 on Sunday (Dec. 7) at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn., where USA Hockey has established a women's residency program. In addition, members of the team will visit Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn., on Friday, Dec. 12. Three-time Olympian Angela Ruggiero (Harper Woods, Mich.), along with teammates Lisa Chesson (Plainfield, Ill.), Erin Keys (St, Paul, Minn.) and Megan Van Beusekom (Loretto, Minn.) will lead the Team USA Skills Clinic at Schwan Super Rink 3, part of the National Sports Center. Approximately 35 girls from local hockey associations are expected to attend. Meanwhile, Julie Chu (Fairfield, Conn.), Chanda Gunn (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Van Beusekom will visit Unity Hospital, which services the Blaine, Fridley, Hilltop, Mounds View and Spring Lake Park areas, on Friday, Dec. 12.
