Hungary defeated the USA Women's Senior National Team 8-3 on the first day of action at the Dutch Trophy in the Netherlands. USA is back in action tomorrow when they take on the Netherlands at 6:30pm local time. The game is schedule to be webcast at www.zwemsport.tv.
The game started off with both sides evenly matched as the score after one was tied 1-1 thanks to a goal from Elsie Windes on a player advantage. In the second period Hungary outscored the United States 3-1 as the lone score came from Moriah van Norman and at the half it was 4-2 in favor of Hungary. In the third quarter Kami Craig scored for the United States but that was countered by three Hungarian goals. Trailing 7-3 headed into the fourth quarter, Hungary tacked on another score and kept the USA scoreless to come away with an 8-3 victory.
Betsey Armstrong posted six saves in the net. Team USA went 2/9 on player advantages while Hungary was 3/5. "Hungary is an excellent team and they were very efficient today. We struggled in areas of shooting and the 6x5, but the games in Rome are where we need to be our best," said USA Head Coach Adam Krikorian.
