Gymnasts of all ages from Honiton Gymnastics Club wowed a 1,500-strong crowd at the London Festival of Gymnastics last weekend.
The 36 acrobatic gymnasts, aged between eight and 19, travelled to Brentwood in Essex to perform their showpiece routine ‘Are We Human’ to the packed auditorium, performing spectacular balances, double somersaults, tumbling elements, and a whole host of other acrobatic gymnastics moves.
The daring gymnasts presented their routine on both the Saturday and the Sunday, and for many of them it was their first overnight trip performing gymnastics outside of Honiton.
“This is the biggest group display we have done for some years,” said Helen Nayler, high performance coach at the club, “and there was a great team atmosphere. There’s little that beats the feeling of performing for a large crowd, and their polished performance meant that Honiton gymnasts really stood out from the rest.”
“Despite the fact that many of our groups concentrate on competitive acrobatic gymnastics, the fun element is still very important, and it’s great to see our international-level acrobats working alongside and helping the younger members of the club.”
