England international Holly Clyburn kept up her fine transatlantic form by
claiming a share of fourth place at the Harder Hall Invitational at Sebring on
Florida’s Orange Blossom Tour.
Holly, 19, from Woodhall Spa, was three-under par for the event with rounds of
70, 72, 69 and 74. Her third round was compiled over two days after a rain delay
made it impossible for the leaders to complete their play on schedule.
Last week, Holly was runner-up in the Dixie women’s amateur championship, also
in Florida.
Fellow international Charley Hull (Woburn) was 12th in the Harder Hall. The
14-year-old, who was also affected by the rain delay, shot 75 69 76 73.
The tournament was won by a shot by American Ashleigh Albrecht who opened her
campaign with a nine-under par 63 and finished 10 under after 72 holes.
Now the Orange Blossom Tour moves to the Oceanside Country Club for the South
Atlantic Amateur Championship, known as the SALLY. England’s Liz Bennett – now a
professional on the Ladies European Tour – won the title in 2008.
Both Holly and Charley will tee up when the competition starts on Wednesday. The
field includes two other English players, Harriet Beasley of Woburn at Stirling
University and Lauren Blease of Coombe Hill, Surrey.
