Amy Tinkler have taken a sensational bronze medal in the Olympic floor final in Rio.

Great Britain had never won a medal in the women’s floor at an Olympic Games, making it another historic evening of gymnastics for GB.
16-year-old Amy Tinkler, Team GB’s youngest member, took to the floor and performed the routine of her life. She nailed every landing to score 14.933 and take bronze behind the USA’s Simone Biles (15.966) and Aly Raisman (15.500). Amy, who collects her GCSE results when she gets off the plane from Rio, joins gymnastics legend Beth Tweddle MBE to become the only other British female to win an individual gymnastics medal at an Olympic Games.
Amy Tinkler: “I can’t believe it. I knew I was Team GB’s youngest athlete but this is crazy and I’m still in shock at the minute.
“It was a bit nerve-wracking watching the other athletes and knowing you are so close to a medal but I would have been happy with wherever I was placed.
“I went out there and did my best and enjoyed it so whatever the result, I would have been happy. I really am speechless.”
British Gymnastics CEO, Jane Allen: “What a great way to finish off our gymnastics campaign with our youngest two members, Nile and Amy each winning a bronze medal. Seven medals, all 3 disciplines, 5 gymnasts and two Olympic gold medals that highlight a truly magnificent gymnastics performance at this Olympic Games from the GB team. Well done to all athletes and coaches. Goodbye Rio, it’s been fantastic for British Gymnastics. The future is bright.”
