No cookies - no ranking GENEVA/MUNICH (FIBA World Championship for Women/EuroBasket Women) - Hana Horakova of the Czech Republic was named the 2010 European Women's Player of the Year by FIBA Europe on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old played a leading role in helping the host nation of last year's FIBA World Championship for Women take a well-deserved silver medal.
The award winner was decided by the public and an expert panel vote.
Horakova, the Czech national team captain, averaged 12.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists (2nd among all players) to lead her nation all the way to the final, where they lost to the USA.
The 182cm guard was named the tournament's MVP and played an intrical part in the Czech Republic scoring one of the biggest upsets of the event, totalling 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists in knocking out reigning champions Australia 79-68 in the quarter-finals.
Horakova also led by example for Euroleague Women club Frisco Sika Brno during the 2009-2010 season before joining Turkish giants Fenerbahce for the current campaign.
In June, she will look to help her country build on last year's success at EuroBasket Women 2011 in Poland.
