Great Britain’s women are set to take on Spain in two Test Matches between 13-15 July in Terrassa, Spain.
Both Great Britain and Spain are undertaking final preparations for the Olympic Games in Beijing. Spain initially missed out in the quest for a place at the Olympics when they lost to England (playing on behalf of Great Britain) in the Bronze medal match at the 2007 EuroHockey Nations Championships. That result meant Spain had to wait until April’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan, to book their tickets to Beijing after they the beat the hosts 3-2 in the final.
In addition to the 16 members of the Olympic Games squad, Coach Danny Kerry has elected to take travelling reserves Laura Bartlett and Katy Roberts, and non-travelling reserve Rebecca Herbert, as he prepares to put the full squad through its paces for the final time.
The matches represent the Great Britain women’s last official fixtures before flying out to Macau for the British Olympic Association’s preparation camp ahead of the Olympic Games.
