GB women win confidence boosting victory in Brno

One month before the World Championships in Stuttgart (GER), which will also serve as Olympic Qualifications 2008, their confidence was boosted even further with excellent results in the All-around and the Apparatus Finals:

Marissa King- winner on Floor and silver on Vault (First Jana Komrskova (CZE)
Laura Jones - best on Beam, where Hannah Clowes took the Bronze.
Rebecca Downie won Silver on A. Bars with Aisling Williams coming in third (winner Kristyna Palesova (CZE)

Rebecca Wing put together the second best all-around result (56.60), after Nicole Pechancova (CZE, 57.25) and ahead of Jana Komsrkova (CZE, 56.05), and also won the bronze medal on Floor.

The last check point for the British women prior to Stuttgart will be the International against one of the quickest progressing nations in gymnastics- Brazil (7th in the 2006 World Championships), on 18/19 August in Ipswich.

The line up of the British Team will be announced this week and it is expected that the World Champion on A. Bars, Beth Tweddle will also take part. The guests will arrive without the famous phenomenal performer on floor, the former World Champion Daiane Dos Santos, but the rest of Brazil’s hopes, who excelled at the recent Pan-American Games and are expecting to play key-roles at the World Championships, will be in Ipswich
