BRITISH Weight Lifting has announced their four-strong team for the European Under-23 and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Romania later this month.
The tournament in Bucharest will give the young GB athletes valuable experience of top level competition as they continue their bid for places at the 2012 Olympic Games in London next year.
Two athletes from the Ivybridge WLC in Devon have been selected – 22-year-old Helen Jewell will lift in the 63kg class.
18-year-old Hannah Powell from Rubery in Birmingham will lift in the 48kg category.
Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Zoe Smith had already been withdrawn to aid her recovery from a back injury.
