Lausanne, April 28, 2009 – The FIVB is monitoring the swine flu outbreak in Mexico and elsewhere around the world, and is taking measures to ensure the safety of players at the FIVB Women’s Junior World Championship scheduled to take place in Tijuana and Mexicali. The FIVB's crisis management unit has put a contingency plan in place regarding the tournament in Mexico, scheduled for July 16-25. FIVB 2nd Executive Vice President Theofanis Tsiokris said, “We are carefully considering the situation in Mexico and are analyzing all relevant issues with FIVB Medical Commission President Roald Bahr. “The health of the players is of course of utmost importance in any decision we will make,” Tsiokris added.
