FIVB approves preliminary-round tournament dates for 2010 World Championships
The women’s first-round event in Saint Lucia through March 27-29. The NORCECA tournament will see the hosts compete with Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The winner of the group will advance to the second round.
NORCECA will host their remaining women’s first-round tournaments in April in Saint-Martin (April 15-19)
AVC will host the women’s first-round tournaments through April 20-24 in Wellington, New Zealand.
A number of second-round tournaments in Africa, Europe, South America, Asia and NORCECA are scheduled through May and June.

A record 215 national teams will compete in the 2010 FIVB Men's and Women's World Championships. Of the 24 national teams in each of the finals, Japan as hosts and Russia as holders have earned their spot in the women’s finals.
In accordance with FIVB regulations, eight European, six NORCECA, four Asian, two South American and two African teams will advance to the women’s finals.
The 2010 World Championship women's finals will be held in Japan from October 29 to November 14
