COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- First lady Michelle Obama has teamed up with USA Hockey and the National Hockey League to produce a public service announcement as part of her “Let’s Move!” initiative that encourages children to become and stay active by playing hockey, as announced today by the White House, USA Hockey and the NHL. The 30-second spot, which was shot in the White House, features the first lady detailing the many virtues and health benefits of playing hockey – including its ability to get the heart pumping, build lean muscle and teach teamwork – all while children are having fun. Scenes of boys and girls throughout the country playing the game in all its forms and in various settings show the myriad ways hockey can be enjoyed. The PSA will debut on Versus’ nationwide coverage of the 2011 NHL SuperSkills on Saturday, Jan. 29, beginning at 7 p.m. ET, and run during Versus’ coverage of the 58th NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 30. It will also air throughout the remainder of the 2010-11 NHL season and 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs on all NHL media platforms and during games broadcast by League rightsholders.
