Final call for the RYA National Match Racing Championship entries

The 2011 RYA Women's National Match Racing Championships are fast approaching and the RYA are urging interested parties to get their entries in before Thursday 30th September to secure their place at this year's event, which takes place at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy between 8-9th October 2011.

The RYA National Match Racing programme is a sailor's first step towards elite match racing events such as the America's Cup and ISAF World Match Racing Tour and the 2011 RYA Women's Match Racing Championships are seen as a pinnacle event on the match racing calendar. Skandia Team GBR's Lucy Macgregor, who has recently been selected to represent Team GB at the London 2012 Olympic Games, will be competing along with several other international teams bidding for their own Olympic selection.

The event is open to all female sailors and teams of three/four sailors weighing no more than 250 kg are invited to compete in the Elliot 6m Olympic class keelboat for the chance to stake their claim and be crowned RYA Women's Match Racing champions.

Also coming up is an event open to all sailors! Qualifier 1 is taking place on the 22-23rd October at Queen Mary Sailing Club. The event will be sailed in J80s with crews of 4-5 people weighing no more than 350kgs.  The RYA are asking interested parties to get their entries in before Thursday 13th October to secure their place at this year's event.

The winners from both the Women's and Qualifier 1 events will be invited to compete in the Match Racing Championship Finals which take place on the 18-20th November at the Queen Mary Sailing Club.
