Dornbirn (AUT) – FIG Office, July 17, 2007: Two positive cases of doping were discovered at the 2007 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup Final, which took place in April in Puurs (BEL). The FIG Presidential Commission ratified the proposal as submitted by the Disciplinary Commission, penalising Russian gymnast Stanislav Kofelnikov with a 6-month suspension for cannabis. A second 2-year suspension was imposed upon Russian gymnast Tatiana Okulova, tested positive for furosemide.
Yet a third disciplinary measure was taken by means of a letter of warning addressed to the Russian Gymnastics Federation. The Federation will be sanctioned in the case of a failure to exercise fair play within the next two years. According to the procedure in force, gymnasts have the right to appeal to the FIG Appeals Tribunal.
