FIAT NETBALL SUPERLEAGUE: Dragons frighten Thunder
Northern Thunder took a four goal lead in the first quarter of their Round 7 FIAT Netball Superleague clash with Celtic Dragon which carried them through to a tough win.
The visitors wisely started with their first choice seven, Jessica Langman sporting a black and red armband to mark solidarity with those affected by the Christchurch earthquake back home in New Zealand. Dragons also started with a strong line-up, imports Brooke Williams at C and the home crowd’s new favourite Lottysha Cato standing tall under the post at GS.

Quarter 3 changes for the visitors. Jessica Langman is replaced by Rachel Henry at WA, while WD Sara Bayman swaps bibs with C Jade Clarke. Dragons coach Melissa Hyndman changes both her wings Amanda Trounce and Kyra Neil came on. Another well match quarter - the home- side stand firm to draw the quarter.
Quarter 4 Thunder finally extend their lead but only by two, it’s a six-goal victory in the end. A great match with standout performances from Celtic’s Sara Hale and Thunder’s Jade Clarke. One of the big four the first to feel the heat from this re-envigourated Dragons side.
