VIDNOJE (FIBA U21 World Championship for Women) - Spain thrashed Mali 75-48 on Friday to earn the right to take on Japan in the ninth/10th place classification game.
Blanca Marcos poured in 18 points while the only other Spanish player to reach double figures was Iciar German with 10 as the European team piled on the misery for Mali, who have yet to win in this tournament.
The African team was within striking distance at half-time, trailing 40-30.
But Spain held them to just one point for the first seven minutes of the third quarter and built a 56-31 advantage during that stretch to put the result beyond doubt.
Mali will take on China in their last game in the 11th/12th place classification game.
