VALENCIA (FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women) - Japan gave Spain a very good game for 25 minutes but Evaristo Perez´s team turned on the style midway through the third quarter and stormed to a convincing win on Sunday at the Torneo de Paterna.
Leading just 47-43 five minutes into the second half of Sunday´s game, the Spanish went on a 21-2 run to finish the quarter and ended up winning 89-60.
Amaya Valdemoro led five Spanish players in double figures with 19 points with emerging star Tamara Albalde contributing 14.
Sachiko Ishikawa had 13 points for the Japanese.
