England Womens Squad to Play Scotland in Manchester

England Hockey has today confirmed that the two fixtures between England women and Scotland at Belle Vue next weekend will be uncapped friendly matches.

As a result, England coach Danny Kerry has selected a squad containing 19 athletes as he continues to prepare his squad for the Women’s Champions Trophy in Sydney in July and the EuroHockey Nations Championships in Amsterdam in August.

Speaking about how he plans to use the matches, Kerry said: “These uncapped matches against Scotland come at a timely point in our preparations for the summer and beyond. We will be working on a few areas of our game, especially considering the new rule changes.

“A number of the younger and less experienced players will have an opportunity to push for selection for the Champions Trophy and European Nations Championships squads. We are excited that Gemma Darrington will receive a further opportunity to play at senior level after rehabilitating from a long term injury and Nic White will receive her first taste of senior action after impressing at training camps and in the GB Super League.

“A number of players are unavailable for consideration due to student examinations, injuries and personal circumstances. Following these matches we will consider the squad for the upcoming matches against Spain and Germany in June.”
