England Women return to Shenley

Both teams return to the picturesque ground on Thursday August 14 for the penultimate game of the series, with South Africa still looking for their first win.

England captain Charlotte Edwards said: “I’m delighted with the way the girls have played so far. We had an awesome day at Lord’s last Friday and then to take the series at Shenley is just fantastic. We just need to continue in this form as we head into the last couple of games of this series and the NatWest Women’s International Twenty20 series.

“We’ve still got a tough series to come against India this summer, so we’ll continue to work hard and hopefully take this form through into that.

“Both these series are fantastic preparation for next year which sees us compete in the ICC Women’s World Cup and the ICC Women’s World Twenty20.”

This series signifies the start of a hectic schedule for England as they embark on 12 months of almost non-stop cricket. Following the series against South Africa they take on India in five one-day internationals and one Twenty20. The ICC Women’s World Cup follows shortly afterwards in Australia in March and that’s swiftly followed by the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 tournament in England in June 2009. The semi-finals and final of that competition will be held on the same day at the same venue and the same ticket as the men’s equivalent matches.
