England Women head to Bath CC

England Women, who remain unbeaten in an ODI series this year, will return to Bath Cricket Club on Saturday August 30, 2008 for the first NatWest Women’s ODI against India.

Confidence in the England camp is running high following a series whitewash over South Africa. The hosts beat the visitors 4-0 in their NatWest Women’s Series which ran throughout August.

Anya Shrubsole, the 16 year old who hails from Bath and has grown up playing at the club made her international debut against South Africa. She’ll be hoping to be selected for the opening game to play in front of her home crowd.

Charlotte Edwards, England’s captain said:

“It was great to win another series over South Africa. That gives us great confidence going into these games against India and gave us perfect preparation ahead of the two global tournaments next year.

“India will be tough opposition this summer and we know we have to be at the top of our game to beat them.

“They’ve got some world-class players like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami and it will be a good challenge for us.

“We’ve got a strong squad, a great blend of youth and experience and we can’t wait for this series to get started – it should be a really good series with some excellent cricket.”
