Right from the start England displayed the attacking intent that took them until the second half to continuously replicate. An early penalty corner after 30 seconds was deflected on to the crossbar by Lauren Turner however this initial burst of excitement was premature as both sides took a while to settle in to the game.

After 12 minutes England won their first penalty corner and Zoe Shipperley smashed the ball home to make the score 1-0. England dominated most of the remainder of the half but a lack of detail in the circle meant that good chances were not created often enough. On the stroke of half time Shipperley scored again from another penalty corner to make the score 2-0.
