They’re currently playing in the Australian strokeplay championship at nearby Glenelg and the top 32 players will qualify for the knockout.
With one round remaining of the strokeplay event, the five members of the English Women’s Golf Association squad are all well placed.
Hampshire’s Liz Bennett leads the way for England in fourth place on one-under par, Yorkshire’s Naomi Edwards shares fifth spot, Lancashire’s Florentyna Parker is tied 15th, while Staffordshire’s Rachel Jennings and Hampshire’s Kerry Smith are both in 21st place.
The third day’s play proved testing as the wind speed increased. Liz Bennett and Naomi Edwards, who started the round in joint third place, were in contention for the lead during the early stages of the inward half. However, they fell away as the wind strengthened over the closing holes.
Australia’s Stephanie Na produced another impressive score of 69 for a three round total of 14-under par 208. She is nine shots clear of the field and highly favoured to win the championship.
