The England squad is preparing for their final battle on tour as they go head to head in the decider of a three-test series against New Zealand tomorrow.
England looks to have the momentum after turning the series around in an unforgettable second test on Wednesday. Their two-goal victory was well deserved and allowed the squad to hold their heads up high after a disappointing 39-goal loss in the first test.
Strong performances have been displayed by the England team throughout the tour, with narrow losses to current world champions, Australia prior to landing in New Zealand.
Nigel Holl, Director of Netball at England Netball, is expecting a hard and physical contest.
He said: “Over the last two years, England has achieved a 2-1 winning record over the Silver Ferns, which has never been seen before. The incentive to add a series victory away from home and out of our regular season is huge.”
It is now up to the England team to prove they have what it takes but the Ferns won’t give up their crown lightly. With a strong winning record from both sides, spectators can expect to see a fierce dual this weekend.
“With National Coach Sue Hawkins now at the helm, and England’s co-captains Karen Atkinson and Sonia Mkoloma driving the team forward, I’m optimistic that the team can rise to the challenge and ultimately make it to the top of the world rankings,” continued Holl.
“The experience gained on tour has been invaluable to the England squad and has given them a real step up the ladder. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s match and I’m very positive for the long term future of the team – regardless of the result in this final game on tour. ”
