Great Britain women put in a dominant second half display to defeat hosts Ireland 3-0 in their third match of the Setanta Trophy with first half goals coming from Chloe Rogers and Crista Cullen and Charlotte Craddock adding the last in the dying seconds of the match. Britain will now play Germany in tomorrow’s final at 11.25.

Setanta Trophy England vs Ireland

Despite some good early possession from Britain, it was Ireland who had the first of the chances with Lisa Jacob’s shot hitting the side netting in the 11th minute. Shortly after, Susie Gilbert was on hand to clear the ball out of the danger zone when an attacking Irish player rounded keeper Beth Storry.

Great Britain won the first of their seven penalty corners in the 23rd minute and it was duly converted by Chloe Rogers for her first ever GB goal. In the 29th minute, a good ball into the circle from Jennie Bimson came to nothing and two minutes later, some good passing play between Laura Bartlett, Chloe Rogers, Jo Ellis (Ipswich), Anne Panter and Sarah Thomas across the pitch went unrewarded with no-one to finish the chain. GB did however make it 2-0 with 41 seconds left on the clock before half time with another penalty corner goal, taken by Gilbert and finished by Cullen.
