Women’s 17 European Handball Championship The cities of Nis and Vrnjacka Banja in Serbia will host the sixteen Women’s 17 national teams who made it through the Qualification Tournament to the final tournament of the W17 ECh being played out from the 25 June – 5 July 2009.
The YAC competitions organised by the EHF continue to be the most prolific platform for the rising stars of handball. There is a lot on the line for these players, only one team can take the 2009 W17 title, however the national teams ranked 1 & 2 will automatically go to the W19 ECh in 2011 and the winner of the W17 ECh will directly qualify for the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010; but there is also the question of just which European teams will qualify for the Women’s U18 World Championship event in 2010 hosted by the Dominican Republic. European Masters Handball Championships The 5th Edition of the European Masters Handball Championship will take place from the 26 – 28 June in Kolding, Denmark.
Under the four age categories, there will be 38 teams participating from 12 European nations. The ever growing European Masters Handball Championships serves the continuing interest in the sport from veteran players on the continent. Men’s 19 European Open The fifth edition of the European Open tournament returns to Gothenburg in Sweden from the 30th June – 4th July featuring the men’s 19 category for those players born in and after 1990. The fourth event of the European handball summer will see 23 teams play a total of 88 matches as they compete for the championship plate. The national team of Sweden are back to defend their title against all comers including two guest teams from Kuwait and Qatar.
