The third set began with Egypt claiming a number of aces to take the score to 5-0 before the Rwandan coach called a timeout to help the side regroup. However it wasn’t enough and Egypt went on to win the set 25-11 and the match in straight sets. Kenya vs. RD Congo Kenya had to come from behind twice to win the tournament’s only tiebreaker match over DR Congo 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-11, 15-9) after two hours of exciting volleyball. DR Congo started the match with a series of aggressive blocks and spikes to pick up the first set before the Kenyans came back to bring the scores level at 1-1. Congo regained the lead before Kenya upped their performance to win the fourth set take the game to a tiebreak. In the final set Kenya utilized their powerful spikes to take an early 8-5 lead. The Kenyans continued their ruthless attack to the tiebreak 15-9 and the match 3-2. Tunisia vs. South Africa Tunisia ended their tournament with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-16) victory over South Africa, securing second place in the qualification tournament. Tunisian spiker Fatma Gtari was the star of the match not only for scoring 13 points but also through her determined leadership on the court. The Tunisian team claimed the first set easily thanks in part to setter Nihel Kebaier whose distribution to the wing spikers took advantage of the South African blocks, taking the set 25-11. South Africa showed improvement in the second set thanks to a better reception however Tunisia’s strong block stopped the attacks and they went on to win the set 25-13.
