Dutch crowned European Champions after exciting final
The Dutch women have grabbed the European title in Amsterdam, beating rivals Germany in a thrilling final, 3-2. Germany surprisingly took the lead by Maike Stöckel in the 11th minute, giving the Dutch crowd a scare.
Holland took over by goals from Lidewij Welten and Marilyn Agliotti but couldn’t hold the lead till the half-time whistle. Nina Hasselmann tapped in the 2-2 from a German penalty corner. In the second half Germany and the Netherlands showed they are Europe’s two best teams, playing top-level hockey. Six minutes before time Marilyn Agliotti decided the final, crowning the hosts European Champion.
