Double Paralympic gold medallist Eleanor Simmonds (pictured) claimed her first British title of the year
Simmonds, who swims in the S6 disability category, impressed throughout the race and looked strong through the water in her specialist event.
The 15-year-old swimmer from Swansea touched in a time of 5min 35.16sec to pick up 1,056 ranking points as well as the gold medal.
Silver went to Simmonds’ Swansea Performance team-mate Francesca O'Connor, who finished in 5:42.62 to pick up 792 points, while the bronze medal went to Colchester Phoenix swimmer Natalie Jones who finished in a time of 6:12.09 to score 772 points.
Meanwhile in the men’s competition, Ben Proctor managed to lower the S14 British record in the men’s MD 200m freestyle final after a strong swim.
Procter was pushed all the way in the final by Dan Pepper - who had beat him at the IPC Swimming European Championships last October - but it was Procter that came out on top after touching in a new British record of 2:04.09 with a total of 964 points.
Pepper sealed silver with a time of 2:05.03 and 943 points while Andrew Zawadzki won bronze in a time of 2:19.33 with 681 points.
In the men’s 400m freestyle, European champion Jonathan Fox, who competes in the S7, won gold ahead of category rival and 11-time Paralympic gold medallist Dave Roberts while Aquabears swimmer Natalie Massey claimed victory in the women’s MD 200m Freestyle with an impressive swim of 2:25.12 to secure 796 points.
