Dokic survives qualifying rounds at the Sony Ericsson Open in Florida
Former No. 4 Jelena Dokic moved on to the main draw today, with her second three-set win in as many days. Dokic came from down a set to defeat American Christina McHale 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-2.
Wild card Sloane Stephens also qualified for the main draw, defeating Australian’s Sophie Ferguson. Stephens prevailed in the first set tie-break, 7-6(4), and ran away with the second set 6-1.
American Jamie Hampton advanced with a win over Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens.
Lauren Davis, a wild card, fell to Anastasiya Yakimova, 6-4, 6-1.
Antraxa Rus defeated Michelle Larcher de Brito in two sets, 6-4, 6-2. Both women came off of solid performances in the first round of qualifiers, but Rus will advance to the main draw.
