Dodgettes Extinguish the Hazard

Southampton Dodgettes emerged as the Women’s UK Champions 2010, by defeating Team Bio-Hazard (Milton Keynes) in the Final. The excellent team work and catching skills exhibited by the Dodgettes was too much for Bio-hazard’s power throwing game as they won four of the first five games, in the best-of-seven game match, to post a 4-0 winning margin and pick up the national title.

This was the Dodgettes first ever tournament title in their 3-year history. Southampton Captain Steph Chatfield said, ‘It’s great to win the UK championship. It’s our third attempt and all our hard work and training has finally paid off’.

Both finalists had cruised through their Semi-finals. Southampton had too much for Balls of Steel Ladies (Nottingham University) although the Nottingham team did manage to win game 3 in their 4-1 defeat. Bio-Hazard had crushed Warwick University Women by four games to nil, only one game going to the final whistle.

Balls of Steel Ladies came back from 0-1 down to win the Third Place Match by 4-1 and gain their club’s first top three place at a Women’s tournament.
