Britain's divers with dreams of competing at this summer's Beijing Olympic Games will go head-to-head this weekend to decide which athletes will be selected to fill the places already secured for Team GB.
Results at the Beijing World Cup in February saw Britain secure places in every event on the Olympic programme with teams in all four of the synchro events and six individual spots achieved out of a maximum of eight.
Divers will compete against each other for selection in the Women's 3m, Women's 10m and Women's 10m Synchro while those currently waiting to be selected in the remaining events will deliver a display of what they intend to dive in Beijing.
The action at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds takes place on 20th and 21st June when Britain's divers add themselves to the Olympic squad. The only two athletes to already be nominated are Pete Waterfield and Tom Daley who will fill the places in the Men's 10m Individual.
National Performance Director Steve Foley is looking forward to seeing the intense competition that will shape the Olympic squad.
"The women's events are very open so competition for these Olympic places is going to be thrilling," said Foley.
"It's a good sign that so many of the divers have already qualified and congratulations must go to them but they still have to be there this weekend to prove their fitness and form even if they're not competing for a place.
"The women's events, particularly on the tower, shows the greatest depth with five really good girls going head-to-head and any two of these will be worthy Olympians."
Galashan twins Helen and Carol (City of Leeds) put themselves into Olympic contention at the weekend with a bronze medal performance at the Rome Grand Prix which qualified them for the Olympic trials.
The Galashans have only been diving for 18months after leaving the sport of gymnastics where they represented England at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
They will now contest the Women's 10m Platform event on Friday with a place at the Olympics at stake.
