Netball Australia has today announced the Australian Netball Diamonds 2009 Oceania Test schedule, which will feature five matches against arch-rival, the New Zealand Silver Ferns. Australian fans have their opportunity to support the world number one team this September, when they contest the Holden Netball Test Series in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before heading across the Tasman to play the Silver Ferns again in the two test New World International Netball Series.
Netball Australia Chief Executive Kate Palmer believes a five Test series against New Zealand will only increase the intensity and rivalry between the top two netball nations.
“We are thrilled we have secured five Test matches against the Silver Ferns which will only enhance the passion and fierce contest between the teams,” Palmer said.
“As the Diamonds build towards the 2010 Commonwealth Games, it is imperative we provide the team as much competitive match play as possible and there is no better preparation than five Tests against New Zealand. “
The Diamonds will also play against an invitation World Team, with dates and details to be released shortly.
