Diamonds rematch in Perth sold out day after tickets go on sale
West Australia has shown its passion for international netball with the Test between the Australian Diamonds and New Zealand Silver Ferns at the Burswood Dome sold out a day after tickets went on sale.
The 2011 Holden Netball Test Series travels west for the first time since 2005 and Burswood Dome will be a sea of green and gold with netball fans snapping up the last of the 5000 tickets on offer over night after they went on sale to the general public Wednesday morning.
West Australians will be treated to two international fixtures with World Netball Championship quarter-finalists South Africa and Malawi to do battle as a precursor to the trans-Tasman international on October 23.
“The response from the West Australian public has been fantastic,” Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer said.
“We are delighted to be bringing netball to the west courtesy of the Australian and West Australian Governments as a part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and it’s exciting to see the level of support for international netball.”
The World Champions are proving to be popular around the country with positive ticket sales for the remaining five Tests in Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.
