The second season of the Samsung Diamond League gets underway in Doha, Qatar on Friday (6 May) offering a US$ 480,000 prize purse, part of the total of US$ 8 Million in prize money which is available throughout the 2011 series.
Ten reigning individual World or Olympic champions are entered for the Doha 2011 meeting, and they will be joined by a host of other stars as the world's premier invitational meeting circuit begins.
The Samsung Diamond League, a series of 14 international meetings across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States, showcases the stars of 32 track and field event disciplines as they compete for US$ 8 Million in prize money. The season's goal is to win their event's sparkling Diamond Race Trophy with its accompanying cash prize of US$ 40,000. It is an intense season long battle for honours that offers the world's sports fans the very best of the best of invitational track and field competition.
The season begins in Doha on 6 May and concludes in the two finals, Z?rich on 8 September and Brussels on 16 September.
