Debutant sidelined for Quad-Series

Uncapped mid-courter Ashleigh Brazill has failed to overcome a knee injury and has subsequently been ruled out of the upcoming 2012 Holden Netball Quad-Series which kicks off in Adelaide on Sunday 14 October.

Brazill was set to make her international debut last month after being named in coach Lisa Alexander’s initial 15-player Australian touring squad for the three-Test Constellation Cup series however the knee injury forced the 22-year old back to Perth before the series had begun.

“You can’t help but feel for Ashleigh in this situation, she thoroughly deserved her first Diamonds selection but unfortunately injury has played a cruel role in preventing her international debut for now,” Alexander said.

“She’s obviously disappointed because she has committed a lot of time and effort this year into making the Australian team but the Diamonds and West Coast Fever medical staff will continue to support her during the rehabilitation process.”

Brazill will not be replaced so the Australian Diamonds will tour with a 14-player squad for the 2012 Holden Netball Quad-Series.

The 2012 Quad Series kicks off at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide, on Sunday 14 October when the Australian Diamonds host England followed by the New Zealand Silver Ferns taking on South Africa. The Quad-Series can be watched live on FOX SPORTS and Telstra BigPond Sport and listened to live via ABC Grandstand.
