MATCH REPORT: BOTSWANA v WALES
The overwhelming cheer from the crowd was a reaction to Wales’ narrow win by only one goal over opponents Botswana. The final score of 46-47 sealed Wales’ first ever win in these Championships, after an agonising fight against Botswana.
Both teams started off very well, heavily preventing the other side from scoring high. The first quarter ended off with a draw, with only 10 goals scored from each side.

A cohesive Samoan team defeated an ever-improving Malaysian team this afternoon in another close match.
For Samoa, Shirin Chang at Goal Attack really stepped up to the mark and was confident to put up the long shot from anywhere in the circle. Having played predominantly at Wing Attack during the World Netball Championships this year, Chang was definitive in her movements and strong in the air. Goal Keeper Monique Vaai was exceptional on defence as she shut down the movement of Malaysian captain, Aruna Santhappan, and claimed many spectacular intercepts. Samoa played a forward thinking game and drove hard and fast onto every ball.

When a team ranked fifth takes on a ranked 21 team you expect it surely to be one sided, but instead the fans at Singapore Indoor Stadium were presented with an extraordinary game as an epic battle took place between Fiji (ranked 5) and Singapore (ranked 21).
It was a clean, fast paced game of Netball that also included some thrills and spills as the ball shot back and forward from one end of the court to another, resulting in the first extra time game of the Mission Foods World Netball Championships 2011.

It may have been a slow start but by the end of the first quarter it was clear we were going to have a tight game on our hands. Barbados and Sri Lanka each had their fair share of the lead but it was Barbados who had the heart to overcome a four goal deficit and snatch the win from a gutsy Sri Lankan side.
It was everything you hope to see in a match; bodies on the line, committed intercepts, hard drives, flashy passing and a fierce battle to gain any edge possible.
