BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, Cubans Nirian Sinal and Kirenia Ballard grabbed their third consecutive crown in the 2009 Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit by winning the Presidente’s Boca Chica Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
The Cuban women pair followed their success in the events of Cayman Islands and Guatemala with a 21-17, 21-14 victory over Costa Ricans Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro in the final match.
In the semi finals phase, Sinal-Ballard defeated Guatemalans Maria Jose Orellana and Anna Ramirez 21-14, 21-13, while Morales-Alfaro edged Mexicans Vanessa Virgen and Polet Cruz 26-24, 18-21, 15-13.
In the match for women’s third place, Virgen and Cruz defeated Orellana-Ramirez in three sets by score of 21-18, 23-25, 15-4.
Ballard added: “We are ready for the next three stops in Mexico and hope to continue winning.”
“This is big thrill,” said Gonzalez. “We knew we had to play hard because the Americans are a good team. My partner and I have been playing for three months but we have worked hard and with desire you can accomplish a lot.”
