Cuba volleyball hopefuls training at high altitude in Peru
Cuba's women's national team is preparing for a busy-looking 2011 season by training at a high-altitude base in Peru.
Both squads are scheduled to return to the country on April 10 to complete their preparations for the upcoming season which includes the FIVB World League, the FIVB World Grand Prix, the Pan-American Games and the NORCECA Continental Championships, Pan-American Cups and Olympic qualifiers.
Several young players have been included in the training party as they work towards the FIVB Women's Junior World Championship in Peru.
The women's team, coached by Juan Carlos Gala with assistants Eider George and Regla Torres, includes outside hitters Kenia Carcaces, Yoana Palacio and Wilma Salas; middle blockers Rachel Sanchez, Gyselle de la Caridad Silva, Rosanna Giel and Daymara Lescay; setters Yusidey Silie and Ana Lidia Cleger; and also youngsters Alena Rojas, Emily Borrell, Yenifer Alvarez, Dayami Sanchez and Eglys Sasvin.
