Continental Beach Volleyball Referee Course to be held in Mexico
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, March 10, 2011 – The FIVB Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic in collaboration with NORCECA and the Mexican Volleyball Federation, will host a Continental Beach Volleyball Referee Course in Mexico City from March 23-30.
Fifteen participants from Argentina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Mexico have been registered thus far in the course to be lectured by instructors Elzier Martin de Oliveira and Carlos Alberto Cimino of Brazil.
The purpose of the course, as it was revealed by Professor Nelson Ramirez, Director of the Center, is to continue increasing the number and quality of the beach volleyball referees within the confederation.
“We have experienced a sustainable growth in our beach volleyball during the past few years and it is necessary to keep up the level of our referees with that increase of competitions and the quality of our players,” Ramirez said.
He also acknowledged the hard work carried out by the Mexican National Federation and the financial support of NORCECA Confederation to make the course a complete success.
He explained the selection of Mexico as the host country of the course pointing out that six stops of the 2011 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit are scheduled to be held in Mexican cities.
“Mexico is the leading country within our confederation based on the hosting of events,” Ramirez added. “Therefore, we urgently need more referees from the country.”
