Jen McIntosh won Scotland's 10th Gold medal in Shooting at Delhi 2010 when she won the Women's 50 m Rifle Prone today. In the process, McIntosh set a new Games record surpassing the 590 points Games Record set by Carolyn Quigley (AUS) in Langkawai in 1998, which was later equalled by Roopa Unnikrishnan (IND) in the same event.
On winning the Gold medal, she says “That’s great. Yeah I am lost for words, really very happy.” Her family is here to support her at Delhi 2010. “Yeah, my dad is actually my coach too, he is really happy, he was proud, it's absolutely fantastic.” At the shooting range, McIntosh finshed her shots quickly and she defends it saying, “I normally shoot fast anyway. This time was probably even faster than normal. Just get over quicker and faster is better for me.”
On her feelings during the match, she confesses she had no idea how she got through. “It was kind of panic and I was very surprised, but I managed to get through. My heart rate was very fast. How I managed? I don't know.”
The facilities at the Dr. Karni Shooting Range, she admits its one of the best. “At the moment this range is better than anything we have in Britain. Hopefully we'll get better facilities in Glasgow (for the 2014 Commonwealth Games), but at the moment this is far superior than anything."
Scotland is the sixth CGA to win at least 10 Gold medals in Shooting at the Commonwealth Games and this was McIntosh's second Gold medal and third overall at Delhi 2010. She became the fifth woman from Scotland to win multiple Gold medals in the history of the Games.
