AMMAN (FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women/FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - The powerhouse trio of China, Japan and Korea have all ensured safe passage to another edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women after finishing in the top three of the FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Women in Jordan.

China strode to a stunning 14th title at the event as they continued their dominance with a 60-53 success against Japan, who had to settle for second spot for the ninth time.

Tingting Zhang saved her best until last having been used sparingly, and she certainly delivered when it mattered most by producing an eye-catching 14 points and eight rebounds.

The forward set the tone early with eight quick-fire points and that set China on the road to victory as they assumed control early and then managed to keep Japan at arms' length for the remainder of the contest with some solid perimeter defense.

The headline effort of Zhang was successfully underpinned by Shuai Liu who also corralled 14 points, while Sijing Huang also reached double-digits with a handy 10 point haul as China finished with an impressive 7-0 record.

Nao Sogabe and Himawari Akaho combined to score 26 points for Japan, but they lacked the presence in the paint they needed to keep pace.

With both of the finalists already clutching a ticket to the FIBA U19 Championship for Women in Russia next year, the Third-Place Game took on extra significance with only one pass left for the prestigious event.

It was Korea who prevailed and made up for not making the Final by sneaking their way past Chinese Taipei 57-54, who came so close to making history and securing their first-ever appearance.

However, in the shape of the phenomenal Ji Su Park, Korea had the difference-maker and following on from competing with the senior team at the recent FIBA World Championship for Women in Istanbul, the center harvested a majestic double-double of 20 points and 21 rebounds.

Foul trouble for the losing team proved costly as I-Chian Lee picked up a fifth foul late and that helped Korea score seven of the last 10 points in the contest to take victory.

Yi-Wen Yu fired 20 points in defeat, but that barely made up for Chinese Taipei having their Russian dreams cruelly denied in a narrow and heart-breaking loss.
