Change Of Venue Announced for 2008 Division 1 Show Ski National Championships
USA Water Ski has announced that the location for the 2008 Division 1 Show Ski National Championships has changed. Originally scheduled for Aug. 8-10 in Janesville, Wis., the 34th annual event will now take place the same weekend in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. The decision was made by the board of directors of the National Show Ski Association, a sport discipline of USA Water Ski, the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States.
Recent storms have created unprecedented flooding along the Rock River in Janesville, and city officials estimate that Traxler Park, the tournament site, would not be reopened until at least November because of the flooding and damage that has occurred. The venue for he 2008 Division 2 Show Ski National Championships, scheduled for Aug. 2-3, in Rock Island, Ill., also will have to be changed because of the swollen Rock River. An announcement on the new location is expected in the coming days.
