Following her impressive game on Friday, Brittany Cervantes topped that performance with an even better offensive showing Sunday afternoon.

In the 12-1 rout of Akron, Cervantes was responsible for six of the 12 runs. She hit two homeruns, her third and fourth of the season, both tallying three runs.

The Bandits scored early and often as they opened the scoring on an Ashley Thomas throwing error that brought Emily Allard home to make it 1-0. Prior to reaching home, Allard advanced to second on a Nadia Taylor throwing error. Kristen Butler hit an RBI single to right field to double the lead to 2-0. Cervantes’ first homerun of the game gave the Bandits a 5-0 lead in the first.

Five runs and six hits on eight batters faced ended Racers’ starting pitcher, Hannah Campbell’s night early as Rachele Fico replaced Campbell in the bottom of the first. Fico inherited a bases loaded situation closing out the inning allowing just one run on an Allard RBI single. The Bandits went into the second inning with a 6-0 lead.

Sara Moulton started in the circle for the second time this series for the Bandits after collecting her first professional win on Friday. Moulton gave up one run on two hits while recording four strikeouts.
Tammy Williams reached third on a Kelley Montalvo throwing error, Akron’s fourth in the first two innings. Alisa Goler’s RBI double brought in Williams to make it a 7-0 game.

The Bandits continued the rout, as Danielle Zymkowitz’s homerun to centerfield, her first of the year, gave the Bandits a 9 run lead.

The Racer’s first hit of the game came in the fourth as Haley Outon singled to center field. Jill Barrett’s RBI double made it 9-1 in the fourth. It was the only run of the game for Akron.

Kirsten Verdun came on in relief for Moulton in the fifth inning to finish out the game for the Bandits. She gave up just one hit in three innings of work.
Cervantes’ second homerun of the game came in the sixth off Lannah Campbell, Akron’s third pitcher of the game. Her three run homerun put the Bandits ahead 12-1.

Chicago took the final game of the weekend 12-1, winning the first series against Akron three games to one
