Scottish Hockey will host the women’s Junior Celtic Cup 27th-29t June which will see Scotland, France, Wales and Ireland fight for the title at Edinburgh’s Peffermill playing fields.
Luckily for the women, the Celtic Cup hosts two opponents they’ll face at the Europeans, Wales and France, making the tournament a good comparison.
Coach Dave Stott said: “The Celtic Cup is an important segment of our comprehensive development programme building up to the European Trophy. The Celtic Cup is after we play test matches against current European Champions Germany and England; so we’ll be ready to compete.”
Stott concluded: “We have seven girls who are currently in the senior women’s squad and eight girls that have played in an A division Championship before, we have a good core group with valid experience which will make us strong competitors at this event.”
Both Scottish teams are going in confident with plenty to prepare for and Scottish Hockey Chief Executive Brent Deans said: “Both teams gearing up the Europeans will make for some great competitive hockey at the Celtic Cup, ideal for spectators.”
