The Current World Champions, Argentina’s “Las Leonas” were recently honoured by the Legislature of the City of Buenos Aires as well as the Argentine Hockey Federation (the CAH). Las Leonas train at CENARD, the nation’s centre of sporting excellence based in the capital.

"We feel an immense of joy and gratitude because we take this award as a very important gesture towards us. We have kept training and sacrificing a lot of things for the sport, "said current Leonas captain Noel Barrionuevo. "It fills us with great pride. Mariela Scarone added “It's very nice that we continue to be recognized in this way, " The presentation event was held in the days before Las Leonas friendly visit to the Pacific, where they will play a series of friendlies against Australia and New Zealand .
Rosario Luchetti added: "We're used to the medals, but it is really special to receive a diploma like this telling us that we are an example to society, and that makes us remain grounded so we stay aware of what we produce. "
Receiving the plaque on behalf of the CAH , Michael Grasso said ,"Whoever works as a manager does so because they love it and loves the children who play this beautiful sport. They do not seek anything for themselves . Our happiness comes when, through our work , these results are achieved. ".
"It's an honour to be recognized in this way. It's really nice to relive all those times as a group. All this makes you open your eyes, to continue assessing each day and being able to represent our national team, " Laura Aladro added.
