Canada and Argentina split four-match series

In the final of four matches, the first three being played in Winnipeg and this one in Brandon, the Argentina women's team beat Canada 3-0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-23) to finish the series tied at 2-2.

Argentina’s captain Georgina Pinedo had 12 kills and Lucia Fresco contributed nine to the victory while Sarah Pavan led Canada with 11 kills and Nadine Alphonse had six kills and five blocks from the middle position.

“We had too many unforced errors today,” said Canada coach Arnd Ludwig. “The last two matches of the series showed us that we have to stay controlled and disciplined in tight situations. We did it very well in the first two, but didn’t follow the game plan in the second two.”

The four game series was a valuable chance for Canada (world No. 20) and Argentina (25th) to gain competitive international experience ahead of the Pan Am Cup in Mexico. It is especially exciting for Canada to be able to showcase their team in the city that they train full-time in.
