The squad won three of their four matches which included an impressive victory over Serbia on Thursday with a score of 8-4.

The second match saw the British team beat the home side, Portugal, with a score of 15-3 which is considered to be one of the team’s best victories for many years.

Saturday saw the women take on France with the British team securing an excellent victory against a team who sit within the top eight sides in Europe. The team played excellently to win a tight match 8-7.

The top two teams, Britain and France, met in the tournament decider on Sunday. The match saw the Brits suffer from missed opportunities to lose to France with a score of 7-4.

Overall, the team secured second place with British athletes Chloe Wilcox and Rachel Drabble featured amongst the tournament’s top scorers with six and five goals respectively.

National Performance Director Nick Hume commented: “Overall, we are very pleased with the weekend. It has been a very progressive tournament in which we have learnt a lot and it is always good to gain experience of competing at this level. It is the first game the team have had since July so they have not had much competition but the signs are looking good for the future.”
