British Gymnastics Congratulate ‘Spelbound’



British Gymnastics is delighted that the skills of some of Britain’s best gymnasts have been recognised through the achievements of Acrobatic gymnastics group, ‘Spelbound’, the winners of the ‘Britain's Got Talent 2010’.

Jane Allen, CEO of British Gymnastics said, “ ‘Spelbound’s’ fantastic achievement is appropriate  recognition of their remarkable talent and dedication and reflects the depth of World Class gymnastic talent in Great Britain. This victory, following on the heels of  the outstanding results at the recent European Championships, will be a further boost to the profile of the sport as we look ahead to the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in July and London 2012.”

‘Spelbound’, who were formed at Spelthorne Elite Acrobatics club coached by Neil Griffiths with choreography from Nicola Yellop, is made up of various Acrobatic gymnasts, all of whom took titles or medals at the 2010 Acrobatic Gymnastics British Championships and have represented Great Britain at World and European Championships.

The majority of the ‘Spelbound’ gymnasts will compete for Great Britain at the forthcoming Acrobatic World Championships and World Age-group Championship held in Poland (6-19th July). Follow their results on www.british-gymnastics.org or contact Media Department for details:  [email protected]

‘Spelbound’ are-

Men’s Four- Adam McAssey, Adam Buckingham, Alex Uttley and Jonathan Stranks -2010 British Champions, will compete for GBR at forthcoming World Championships in Poland.
Mixed Pair-Katie Axten and Nick Illingworth -2010 British Champions.
Women’s Trio -Leighanne Cowler, Lauren Kemp, and Hollianne Wood  - Silver at the 2010 British Championships and will compete at the forthcoming World age-group Championships in Poland.
Women’s Pair - Abigail Ralph and Amy Mackenzie - Will compete at the forthcoming World age-group Championships in Poland.
Men’s Pair- Ed Upcott and Doug Fordyce – 2010 British Champions and will compete for GBR at forthcoming World Championships in Poland
