Brent Hills has warned England to expect a backlash when they take on Turkey in their fourth World Cup qualifier on Thursday.
The Women’s Interim Head Coach led his side to a comfortable 8-0 win over the Turks in September and he believes they will want to make up for such a heavy defeat.
Hills told FATV: “They will offer more than we saw in England.
“We played very well in England, we played with tremendous energy, our taking of chances was excellent. We’ve got to strive to maintain that while knowing that Turkey will be smarting from that defeat and going to want some sort of revenge.
“That result is done and dusted. I’ve been reminding the girls that the last time we played in Turkey, which was prior to the 2011 World Cup, we won 3-0 – but the first goal didn’t come until 15 minutes from the end.
“So I think we can expect a much tougher game and a much tougher fight.”
Hills also said he was very happy with how England have trained in the build-up to the game and spoke a bit about the development of women’s football in general, having been involved for over 16 years.
